After finishing the MacEgan Brothers series, I decided to give this series a try, knowing that I like this author's style of writing and had loved Highland Romances in the past. All the MacEgan Brothers books had a similar format, and I was expecting this series to be the same, only in a different setting, but found this story to be entirely different. Bram is a tortured hero, who seems to be suffering from some sort of serious PTSD symptoms. His wife, Nairna, is such a strong character with a tremendous ability to offer unconditional and unlimited support and assistance, in an attempt to be helpful and useful to others without coming off as a martyr. I loved all the characters and can't wait to read the other brothers stories. The second book in this series, Seduced by Her Highland Warrior, is about Alex and his wife, Laren.

Well written and a page turner in the Highland Warrior series. Read them all by Michelle. Love her characters who seem to be real and tell the story right to you. Couldn't put the book down and hated it when it came to an end.
This is a touching story of love lost and found. Bram spent seven long years in an English prison. His wife thought that be was dead and remarried. Now that he has returned everything is different. Can they rebuild their lives and found the love that since existed between them or is it too late?
This was a great book, another Scottish clan book that was well written. Michelle Willingham is a great author in the Scots genre.

The characters were all very believable, and most quite likeable too. The storyline was good, and held your attention.

The shipping was fast, and the book was in exactly the condition it was described.
If I was to have one issue with this book it would be all the cliffhangers with the secondary characters but then again if my biggest issue with the book is wondering what happened to the secondary folks I think that's a positive to the author that she makes everyone in her story that important...I turned my kindle off yelling BUT WHAT HAPPENED TO His brother, his other brother and wife, his baby brother, the french chick grr so many wonderful characters!!! (maybe we have another book coming to us??)

For the main couple WOW! I love the stories where the main folks are more of a team instead of forced marriage/kidnapping/etc. What an amazing job giving us a story of two people who cared for each other sepperated and then to fall back in love and overcome the hell this poor man went though. The herione was such a strong loving person and I just wanted to give her husband a hug.

Wonderful story.

Michelle Willingham is a true talent!
This is the first one of this series and it was pretty good. I really loved the characters in this one but some of the parts were hard to deal with. The author did not go into specific explanation of the torture that the characters had to deal with but if you have any imagination you get it! That actually had me in tears at times, so I suppose that does say something for the writing.
Gritty and raw story of Highland prisoner, Bram MacKinloch. After escaping from the torturous English guards, Bram tries to put his life back together. It is not an easy road and many times I found this book very depressing. It is definitely not a light and easy read. You could feel the pain many of the characters suffered from. While I would be interested in knowing more about the other two brothers in the next two MacKinloch books, I think I need a breather and lighter read for now.
I skipped over this book several times in my recommendations before buying it because the title sounded like so many of the novels I had read lately with a whiny heroine, a stubborn hero, mulitple misunderstandings, silly fights and some fun love scenes. I am so glad I bought this!
This is such a sweet, wonderful story of 2 people trying to rediscover each other after a long seperation. The hero is tortured by his past imprisonment but not in an overly-dramatic, "bodice-ripper" way but instead in a realistic and painful way. You feel for him almost immediately and want him to find happiness and deal with his past. The herione is anything but a spoiled Laird's daughter. She is gentle, tough, loving, understanding, patient, and likeable. The two grow with each other very gradually as they explore their relationship. They are adults but experience each other very touchingly like scared adolescents at first until they become more confident.
Misunderstanding are quickly cleared up, hurt feelings are not left to fester, characters are generally honest with each other, and action is not gratuitous. I was definitely cheering for this couple!

Note There were a couple of mistakes that were a bit distracting (like an incorrect name)but this did not diminish my opinion of the book.
