The Faerie Ring Kiki Hamilton Books
This fantasy is set in 1871 London. Tiki is an orphan who has been living on the street and picking pockets to take care of her new adoptive family. After narrowly escaping her latest victim by catching a ride on the back of a coach, she finds herself in Buckingham Palace. At first she just plans to steal some food from the abundance but she finds herself in a library and ends up taking a ring that was dropped on the floor.Tiki never expected that it was the ring that holds the truce between the human world and faerie. Everyone wants it. Some faeries want it to break the truce. The Queen's youngest son Leo wants it back because he is the one who took it from its safe place and lost it.
Rieker also wants the ring. Rieker is another pickpocket who has been following Tiki around for quite a while. He is quite a mysterious character and Tiki isn't about to trust him with the safety of her family or the ring.
This story was very engaging. I liked that Tiki built her own family after her parents died of a fever. I liked her willingness to do anything for the good of young Clara who she found almost dead on the street a few years previously.
I enjoyed this fantasy and am eager to read the next three books in the series to learn more about Tiki, Rieker, and the other kids.

The Faerie Ring Kiki Hamilton Books Reviews
The book is set in Victorian London and introduces a new series. The main character is Tiki, an orphan who was befriended by another orphan when her luggage was stolen and she was left without anything. She now heads up a group of orphans who make their way by getting the odd job here and there, by picking pockets, and by stealing food. Tiki escapes from being caught stealing by catching a ride on the back of a carriage. She dozes off, and when she awakes, she finds herself at the site of fancy party. She sneaks into the kitchen hoping to get some food to bring home, but circumstances lead her to hide in a room where she overhears an interesting conversation about a ring. The two young men are interrupted and the ring is dropped. Seeing an opportunity, Tiki takes the ring, hoping to later pawn it. Unfortunately, the ring she is stolen is no ordinary ring, and the family she has taken it from is the royal family. The ring is the covenant between the Faerie realm and the human world, and until it is returned to the royal family, the truce between the kingdoms is in peril. Tiki finds out that there are evil forces within the Faerie kingdom (the Unseelie Court) that want the truce destroyed, while others want to maintain the peace. She is aided by another thief, Rieker, who turns out to be more than he seems as well. Tiki must find a way to return the ring without risking the lives of her new family.
Loved it, can't wait to read the next one! I thought that the book started out kind of slow, but then I really got into and really enjoyed it. There were definitely some twists I didn't see coming and I liked that I was surprised. The alternate past and the setting in London was a lot of fun, even though Tiki and her friends were poor orphans. I realize that they had to pickpocket to live, but I really enjoyed seeing how they pulled it off and what they could get. I felt so bad for their situation though, I see why Tiki became the motherly figure. I loved the concept of the book, the plot and the addition of the super creepy faeries!
Tiki was a great MC, I loved that she took care of herself and the others at such a young age. Her situation in life has been horrible, but she hasn't let that break her down. I also liked her chemistry with the other orphans and how they cared for each other. Getting to see Tiki learn to fight and create disguises was a lot of fun. I was suspicious of Rieker at first because it was hard to tell what his motives were. I ended up really liking him later on. There were some great twists with him in this book as well as great scenes with Tiki. Prince Leopold is a little creepy and am interested to see what will happen with him in the next end.
The end of the book wasn't too much of a cliffhanger, but I really want to know more. Overall I really loved this book and I can't wait for the next one! I recommend it!
