When I read a novel, and generally I only read non-fiction once a year, I read to escape into a story, most of the time on vacation. This book has all of the elements that I look for. The characters are well developed, I actually have a "vision" of what they look like, their facial expressions, their emotions, their interactions with each other. It is as descriptive as the best travel logs, and I could actually smell and taste the food as it was described. Vibrant descriptions, passion, without being racy, all wrapping around a package that made me look at myself, and my own beliefs and moral measurements. I felt for these characters, and became a part of their ensemble. And, as in any well written story, my relationship with the characters left me emotional when the story ended. Well done, and I look forward to more from this author.

This book was such a deligh to read! I enjoyed every minute of it and my only complaint is that it isn't long enough! I really hope the author comes out with a part two.
Since starting the book it was nearly impossible to put it down. I downloaded it on my kindle and would read it during my lunch break at work or sometimes even at work because patience isn't exactly a strength of mine.
As a lebanese American I am amazed at how great the author portrayed the struggles of interreligion dating and the struggles of leaving your country behind in hopes of a better future.
This is a fantastic read and I encourage everyone to purchase it.

Beautifully written story full of eloquent and vivid descriptions of food, culture, history, and love. The author perfectly captures the raw emotions of the characters, and transports the reader with her words. A great read I will suggest to everyone I know!
A touching story with memorable characters. It kept me interested all the way through. I love how the author explores different cultures and shows the struggles that people face when their country is at war. This book has a purpose bigger than entertainment, the dialogue reached a depth of wisdom. Truly a magical story with lessons learned for all. Highly recommended!
I appreciate learning about the differences between Muslims and Christians, as well as the things they have in common. This book softens my understanding of non-radical Muslims, and the difficulties faced when they marry non- Muslims. A little too "Harlequin Romance-y" for me, though.
